A hypnotherapist induces the client into a state of hypnosis which brings about expression of some altered behaviors. A therapist first consults with the patient so as to understand what the problem is before inducing them into a state of hypnosis. Just like walking a patient through a treatment plan, a hypnotherapist should offer to inform the client what will go on and what they will experience during hypnosis. The emotional and physical reception that a client has should be gauged and this calls for the hypnotherapist to test not only the physical but also the emotional suggestibility of the patient.
The hypnotherapist then takes to inducing the client into a state of hypnosis and the techniques to be used in the process will be determined by the test results of suggestibility and this is to mean that one hypnotherapist may use different methods for two different clients. Hypnotherapy can also be viewed as a form of counseling as sometimes it helps with psychotherapy because it helps clients to explore what may have been hidden from their conscious mind and enable people to perceive some things differently. Hypnotherapy can be applied in two forms , one being suggestion therapy or it can be applied as analysis, suggestion therapy helps clients to better respond to some suggestions for instance help an individual to quit some certain behaviors, inspire and build some self-esteem.
Analysis therapy on the other hand aids in exposing a client to memories of experiences that may have been buried in the part of the unconscious mind, this will be done in a relaxed state and hence the client has to be made comfortable during the entire process. During the period when a client is under hypnosis, awareness levels are extremely high and this enables the hypnotherapist to make suggestions on areas of the subconscious that need addressing. Hypnotherapy has largely been known and accepted as a habit breaker and to intercepting stressful experiences but for the therapy to work, a client has to have trust in the guidance of the hypnotherapist otherwise the desired results will not be achieved.
Hypnotherapy has been proven to reduce stress and fight anxiety, in the medical field, this comes in handy especially to deal patients who are experiencing anxiety before they step into some medical procedures. Behavior change of hypnotherapy helps clients who have problems with issues such as insomnia, cases of bed wetting and phobias that lead to the development of sex related problems. Grief experienced after loss of loved ones are painful experiences and can get addressed by hypnotherapy.
